Darrold taught for a couple of years when he was first out of college and a pumpkin bar recipe was given to him by one of his students. The recipe card is almost unreadable from all the spills on it because I’ve made it so often in the last 45 years. I nearly have it memorized. Family and friends ask me to make it every fall. I have been meaning to post the recipe but a customer whose blog I follow reposted hers from a couple of years ago and it’s the same one. Here it is with much prettier pictures than I have. The only think I might change is to use Red Fife Sifted in place of Turkey Red White. They both will be wonderful but the Sifted is a healthier all purpose flour since it retains all the germ.
